Covenant House — WordPress CMS Integration.

Challenge
Covenant House — an NGO serving homeless youth across the Americas — had an existing vanilla-frontend site that needed a content-management layer so the team could publish editorial updates without engineering involvement. The job was to introduce a CMS without rewriting the existing frontend.
Approach
I integrated WordPress as the CMS backend into the existing vanilla-frontend project, wiring the existing templates and content surfaces to WordPress-managed data. I worked alongside two senior frontend developers as part of the Elkanodata team.
Stack
WordPressPHPTwigWebpackSCSSvanilla JS (existing frontend stack)
Outcome
The Covenant House site now lives at covenanthouse.org with WordPress-backed editorial autonomy while preserving the original frontend implementation.
Key Contributions
- WordPress CMS integration on top of an existing vanilla-frontend project
- Wired existing templates and content surfaces to WordPress-managed data
- Preserved the original frontend implementation while adding editorial flexibility
